A Story of Moonstone

As ancient as the moon itself, moonstone holds the power of mystery. It has always been a sacred stone in India and is known as the Traveler's Stone for the protection it affords. It is also called a Sailor's Stone for travelers crossing the sea, especially at night.

The Romans believed the gem was made from frozen moonlight, and the Greeks used it in representations of lunar gods.

Moonstone has always held a connection to the magic of the moon.
It is a gift of lovers for passion and a channel to a path to wisdom. Our ties to the moon are strong. It is believed that the moon offers protection and creates a rhythm and influences our behaviors, emotions and spiritual growth. Moonstone teaches us the natural rhythms of life.

More recently, it is the official gem of the State of Florida, despite not naturally occurring in the state. It may be the state’s official gem because all the NASA moon-bound spacecraft launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Moonstone is a birthstone of June and is a popular choice for jewelry.

Whether spiritual, aesthetic, or symbolic, moonstone is undeniably striking. Especially when handled with care and employed properly. As you can see from the Moonstone Illuminate Ring, in which the gem is of the highest grade and has an unusual green hue that gives the ring a mystical quality. The surface of the silver is treated with a special tool to render a soothing finish which adds to the glowing aspect of the gem like the moon itself.
